If you really want to experience what the U.S. Olympic Track & Field Trials are all about at the grass-roots level, call a friend and come out to the free Oregon Track Club’s All-Comers meet immediately after the hammer throw competition on Wednesday, July 6 at Hayward Field.
It promises to be a memorable evening with fun for the entire family. There will be a special TrackTown 16 t-shirt giveaway as long as supplies last, the chance to participate in three events – 60m dash, 100m and mile – plus an all-ages victory lap on the most revered track in America.
Registration for the OTC All-Comers meet runs from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Gate 1 near the Bowerman Building on the northwest end of the track. All you have to do is sign a waiver. Approximate start time is 7:45 p.m.
The 60m dash is open to kids age 6 and under with ribbons given to all participants. The 100m is open to those age 7 and older with timed results and ribbons by place for each heat. The mile is open to those age 7 and older with heats organized by predicted time starting at 5-minute pace through 12-minutes or above pace.
The all-ages “Victory Lap” is an untimed, non-competitive lap around Hayward Field.
If you arrive early, you can take part in history as the women’s and men’s hammer throw at the U.S. Olympic Track & Field Trials will be held inside Hayward Field for the first time. There is no admission charge. Here’s the schedule of events:
