Communications Internships

Overview

TrackTown USA is a non-profit organization dedicated to setting a standard of excellence in the sports of track and field and running by hosting premier events and creating a supportive environment for elite athletic performances. In August of 2021, TTUSA will serve as the Local Organizing Committee for the IAAF World Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Hayward Field. TTUSA will be offering a variety of internships to college students during the 2018 indoor and outdoor track and field seasons. The internships begin on Jan. 9, 2018 and end following the 2018 spring term. The positions will be available in four different categories:

  1. Communication Internship
  2. Social Media Internship
  3. Marketing Internship
  4. Videographer Internship

Interns must have demonstrated social media skills via Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, SnapChat and YouTube. They will be expected to attend all TTUSA events and help with the promotion, set-up, tear down, coverage and management of those events. Interns will also be tasked with projects surrounding a variety of TrackTown initiatives. Required key events include:

  • Eugene Marathon & Half Marathon (April 27-29)
  • University of Oregon home meets (TBA)
  • OSAA High School Track & Field Championships (May 17-19)
  • 44th annual Prefontaine Classic (May 25-26)
  • NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships (June 6-9)
  • TrackTown Tuesdays (Jan. 9, Feb. 6, March 6, April 3, May 1, June 5)

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience and expertise with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, SnapChat and YouTube.
  • Experience with Adobe Programs a plus – Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro.
  • Basic photography/videography skills and equipment a plus.
  • Basic HTML skills for WordPress and MailChimp a plus.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work accurately and effectively on tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently, to work in a team atmosphere, and to work in a cooperative manner with people from a wide variety of backgrounds.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clear, concise written messages through memos, email and reports.
  • Willingness to work non-traditional hours.
  • Passionate about the advancement of the sport of track and field.

Communication Intern

Responsibilities

  • Intern will play key role in brainstorming & developing content for website, social media and a variety of other outlets.
  • Assist the Communication Director with writing stories.
  • Be available to assist at all TTUSA events.

Social Media INTERN

Responsibilities

  • Intern will play key role in executing social media strategy via Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, SnapChat and YouTube.
  • Assist the Digital Communications Coordinator with social media coverage of TrackTown USA Events.
  • Help brainstorm and develop creative content for social media posts, website, and TTUSA events.
  • Be available to assist at all TTUSA events.

Marketing INTERN

Responsibilities

  • Intern will play key role in the research, development & implementation of marketing plans.
  • Assist Marketing Coordinator in day-to-day application of marketing projects, including managing Google Adwords.
  • Intern will be an ambassador for TrackTown USA at a variety of meets and activation booths.
  • Help in the production of TrackTown Tuesdays including the editing and creating of graphics and videos.
  • Be available to assist at all TTUSA events.

Video Production INTERN

Responsibilities

  • Intern will play key role in developing video content for website, social media & a variety of other outlets.
  • Help in the production of TrackTown Tuesdays including the editing and creating of graphics and videos.
  • Brainstorm and create video content and be able to shoot or acquire the video assets needed.
  • Be available to assist at all TTUSA events.

Commitment and Internship Duration

The student internship is 10-15 hours per week beginning Jan. 9, 2018 and ending on June 10, 2018
