Michael Reilly graduated from Stanford University in 1993, where he earned a degree in Symbolic Systems and specialized in the study of artificial intelligence. While at Stanford he ran both cross country and track, concentrating on the 3000-meter steeplechase.
Michael received NCAA All-Academic honors in cross country and started his professional role in the sport of track and field immediately upon graduation. He embarked on a ten-year career at Stanford, serving at times as the program’s Director of Operations and as an Assistant Coach of Track & Field and Cross Country. In that span, his skills as an event organizer were formed and he served as the Competition Director for both the 2002 and 2003 USA Championships.
Michael was Associate Athletic Director at Oberlin College in Ohio from 2003–2005. From 2005–2011 he was an Assistant Athletic Director for the University of Oregon, coordinating all of the track & field program’s administrative efforts, especially the home meets. He was the Competition Director for the 2008 Olympic Trials, the 2009 and 2011 USA Championships and the 2010 NCAA Championships.
In August 2011, he left TrackTown to join the London 2012 Organizing Committee, where he oversaw operational planning for 7 training venues for the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games.
In November 2012 he returned to Eugene to become CEO of TrackTown USA, Inc.
