Event Area Descriptions

Accreditation and Workforce

Be a part of the team that makes sure our workforce is prepared and excited to deliver in their areas of the event. The crews in this area provide hospitality and support to our workforce. Volunteer roles include accreditation and apparel inventory, set-up and distribution, Go Team! volunteer utility pool, daily workforce check-in and workforce hospitality. Your volunteer work will be central to an outstanding experience for our entire volunteer workforce.

Catering and Hospitality Services 

Be a part of the team that is essential to providing a first-class experience to all clients such as media, volunteers, VIPs and workforce located throughout the venue. Volunteer roles will include catering services: where you may assist in making sure catering arrives on time and guests have what they need and catering logistics: maintaining catering inventory of snacks, water and ice, and helping hospitality areas get serviced.

Community Programs         

Be a part of the team that introduces our community to track and field. The crews in this area provide important support to our community and youth programs like Olympic Day and the TrackTown Youth League. Many of these events will occur in the festival and competition venue, but some will be out in our community. Volunteer roles include greeting and checking in participants, managing the flow between venues and the conduct of the competition. Your volunteer work will be instrumental in creating a fun environment for youth and fans of all ages as well as inspiring the next generation of track and field participants and fans.

Competition  

Be a part of the team that ensures the competition goes off flawlessly! The crews in this area provide support to the technical officials, the conduct of the competition and the athletes before, during and immediately after their event. Volunteer roles include setting up the equipment on the field of play, serving on the basket crew, escorting athletes, functioning as anti-doping escorts, and facilitating the technical aspects of the competition. Volunteer roles will be at the competition, warm-up and training venues as well as the hospitality areas for coaches and athletes. Your volunteer work will be critical to the success of the competition and the athlete experience. 

Event Presentation and Medal Ceremonies         

Be a part of the team that ensures an exciting presentation of the competition and awards. The crews in this area provide support to the team that delivers the medal ceremonies and the in-stadium presentation. Volunteer roles include medal ceremonies and spotting for the in-stadium production teams. Your volunteer work will be instrumental in creating a great show for the spectators.

Event Services and Retail  

Be a part of this team that is essential in making sure all event guests have a positive experience.  This is a customer-facing position where volunteers may be assigned to help at the ticketed and festival entry gates, provide mobility assistance, greet all guests as they enter Hayward Field, direct them to their seating areas, serve as ushers, assist in selling programs, and answer any general questions that they may have. Volunteers must be outgoing, friendly and have a positive attitude.  Many roles may require volunteers to be able to move around the venue for their entire shift.

Hayward Field Set-up and Logistics         

Be a part of the team that ensures Hayward Field is ready for action and looks great in-stadium and on TV. The crews in this area prepare Hayward Field prior to the competition, provide critical support during the event and help with loading out post-event. Volunteer roles include the installation of décor and signage, setting up spaces around the venue, delivering snacks and refreshments around the venue and load out after the meet is over. Your volunteer work will make sure Hayward Field is at its best and will create a lasting impression for all that attend the Trials.  Volunteers on this team must be active, able to lift 30+ lbs., able to drive a golf cart and able to move around the venue for most of your shift.

Media Operations    

Be a part of the team that looks after the needs of the media. This crew is essential for various media help including event information, distributing results, snack and beverage stocking, filling office supplies, assisting photographers and media personnel and serving as quote takers. Volunteers must be comfortable operating a computer, printing-related equipment and copy machines. Prior experience and a knowledge of track and field is preferred.

Medical Services

Be a part of the team that is vital to supporting the athletes before and after competition. Volunteer roles in this area will be comprised of Certified Athletic Trainers (ATC), Chiropractors, Massage, Nurses, Physicians and Physical Therapists. Requires current certification in desired volunteer role. 

Sustainability

Be a part of the team that is critical to making a positive impact on the environment. This crew will make sure we uphold the sustainable standards set by the event through waste diversion from landfills by helping spectators and guests to contribute to the cause. You will get to share your passion by engaging attendees about our environmental standards and help guests at sustainability stations. Volunteers should be responsible, passionate, and excellent communicators with great attitudes.

Transportation

Be a part of the team that is vital in the positive experience of spectators, VIPs, officials, athletes, and other volunteers. This crew is responsible for getting all guests to and from the venue in a timely manner. Volunteers will need to be able to effectively manage the queue of attendees, the loading and unloading of passengers from the shuttle service, provide general event and venue information as needed as well as track ridership. Volunteers must be outgoing, have the ability to communicate information and answer general event questions.
