TrackTown USA Volunteer Event Areas

Accreditation

Be a part of the team that makes sure our workforce is prepared and excited to deliver in their areas of the event. The Accreditation Team Members provide support in the distribution of credentials, apparel and client gifts to event clients such as fellow volunteers, media, athletes, and other event personnel. Volunteers may serve as greeters, line monitors, apparel distribution and computer operators. Other duties may include laminating or printing of the credentials and pulling apparel for distribution. For some events you may support Workforce with checking in volunteers when they arrive to their shift. Your volunteer work will be central to providing an outstanding experience for our entire volunteer workforce.

Anti-Doping

This team is essential to supporting a successful event. The Anti-Doping Chaperones will escort their assigned athlete to the Anti-Doping Center. The volunteers working in this area must be able to listen to and follow instructions and act in a professional manner. Volunteers must be 18 years or older.

Athlete Services

Be a part of the team that is responsible for the experience of the athlete and their representatives. Volunteers may be assigned to support the arrival of athletes into the Eugene or Portland (Portland area volunteers) airports making sure they are greeted upon arrival, through baggage claim and finally to transportation loading zones for pick up (hours may vary and can include some early morning and late- night shifts). There are also opportunities to work at the athlete hotel providing customer service, hospitality and information to athletes and their representatives.

Partnerships

Be a part of this team that is essential to providing a first-class experience to many of our clients such as Media, VIPs, and Workforce. VIP hospitality may include packaging and delivery of VIP packages, working in a VIP suite to serve as a greeter, assist in making sure catering arrives on time and guests have what they need, keeping the area clean, and making sure the guests have the proper credentials to be in the space.

Community Programs and Youth Engagement

Be a part of the team that introduces our community to track and field. The team members in this area provide important support to our community and youth programs. Many of these programs will occur in and around Hayward Field, but some will be in other areas of our community. Volunteer roles may include assisting with Uncle Phil’s Front Row, greeting, and checking in participants, managing the flow

Be part of the team that ensures an exciting presentation of the awards. The volunteers in this area provide support to the team that delivers the award ceremonies in a way that showcases athletes in the best light and provides them with a top-notch experience. Volunteer assignments could include medal/award organization and behind-the-scenes athlete management.

Competition

Be a part of the team that ensures the competition goes off flawlessly! The team members in this area provide support to the technical officials, the conduct of the competition and the athletes before, during and immediately after their event. Volunteer roles include setting up the equipment on the field of play, serving on the basket crew, escorting athletes, creating a safe environment at practice and warm-up areas, and facilitating the technical aspects of the competition. Volunteer roles will be at the competition, warm-up, and training venues as well as the various competition hospitality areas. Your volunteer work will be critical to the success of the competition and the athlete experience.

Event Services and Retail

Be a part of these teams that are essential in making sure all event guests have a positive experience. These are customer-facing positions where volunteers may be assigned to help at the entry gates. May pass out promotional gifts, provide mobility assistance, greet all guests as they enter Hayward Field, direct them to their seating areas, serve as ushers, assist in handing out or selling programs and various apparel items, support the ticket office in stadium re-seating ticket holders when necessary, and answer any general questions that spectators may have. Volunteers must be outgoing, friendly and have a positive attitude. Many roles may require volunteers to be able to move around the venue for their entire shift or stand for long periods of time.

Look & Feel and Logistics

Be a part of the team that ensures Hayward Field is ready for action and looks great in-stadium and on TV. The volunteers in these areas will prepare Hayward Field prior to the competition, provide critical support during the event and help with loading out post-event. Volunteer roles may include the installation of décor and signage, setting up spaces around the venue, receiving and delivery of goods and supplies, and delivering snacks and refreshments around the venue. Your volunteer work will make sure Hayward Field is at its best and will create a lasting impression for all that attend. Volunteers on this team must be able to: lift 30+ lbs., drive a golf cart and to move around the venue for most of your shift. Volunteers must also be active and be able to stand for long periods of time.

Communications and Promotions

Be a part of the team that looks after the needs of the media and provides social media support. These team members are essential for various media help including event information, distributing results, snack and beverage stocking, filling office supplies, assisting photographers and media personnel, working in the virtual mixed zone, and serving as quote takers. Communications volunteers may also support event and TrackTown social media goals. Volunteers must be comfortable operating a computer, printing- related equipment, and copy machines. Prior experience and a knowledge of track and field is preferred. The Promotions team is essential to promoting track & field, future events happening at Hayward Field and TrackTown USA! Volunteers must have a positive outgoing nature and have strong customer service skills. May also pass out promotional gifts.

Medical Services

Be a part of the team that is vital to supporting the athletes before and after competition. Volunteer roles in this area will be comprised of Certified Athletic Trainers, Chiropractors, Massage, Nurses, Physicians and Physical Therapists. Requires current certification in desired volunteer role.

Transportation

Be a part of the team that is vital in the positive experience of spectators, VIPs, officials, athletes, and other volunteers. This team is responsible for getting all guests to and from the venue in a timely manner and parking responsibilities. Some volunteers may also serve as drivers who will be assigned tasks such as picking up and delivering VIPs to and from various locations in the Eugene and Springfield areas. Volunteers may be assigned to manage the queue of attendees, the loading and unloading of passengers from the shuttle service, provide general event and venue information as needed as well as track ridership. For the USATF National Championships, volunteers may also be assigned to be greeters at the Eugene Airport. Volunteers must be outgoing, can communicate information and answer general event questions.

Workforce

Be a part of the team that makes sure our workforce is prepared and excited to deliver in their areas of the event. The volunteers in this area provide hospitality (including snacks and food) and informational support to our workforce. Volunteer may be assigned to hand out credentials, apparel, or food. Other aspects of this role could include apparel inventory, set-up and distribution, greeting fellow volunteers, Go Team! volunteer utility pool, and daily workforce check-in. Your volunteer work will be central to an outstanding experience for our entire volunteer workforce.
