TRACKTOWN USA VOLUNTEERING FAQs
We’re so excited you’re interested in volunteering with TrackTown USA! Below are answers to the questions we hear most often. Because each event is managed by its own leadership team and has unique needs, some details (like roles, schedules, and uniforms) can vary by event.
-
Register online through the volunteer portal and complete the required waivers and acknowledgements. Once you’re registered, you’ll be able to indicate your event preferences and availability.
-
It depends on the event:
The Prefontaine Classic (PRE) & World Athletics U20 Championships (WA U20): Roles and shifts are offered on a rolling basis and selected at the discretion of each Head of Department. If you receive an offer, you can accept or decline, then proceed to confirm shifts and complete any required training.
Nike Outdoor Nationals (NON) & NCAA Outdoor Championships: These events typically use an open selection process, where volunteers can select the roles and shifts they prefer from what’s available.
Since each event is different, timelines and processes may vary slightly from one event to another.
-
For events with rolling offers (like PRE and WA U20), assignments may be posted and updated over time. If anything changes, it will be reflected in your volunteer profile.
To keep the process fair and organized, we ask that you avoid emailing to request specific roles or shifts. Your profile will always show the most up-to-date information.
-
We love when groups volunteer together! While we can’t guarantee placement on the same team, role, or shift, we’re happy to review group requests when possible.
If you’re volunteering as a group, please email volunteers@gotracktownusa.com with:

NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships: 2 shifts*
Nike Outdoor Nationals (NON): 2 shifts*
The Prefontaine Classic (PRE): 1 shift*
World Athletics U20 Championships: 3 shifts*
You’re more than welcome to select more than the minimum depending on event needs and your availability.
*Minimum shift requirements may vary by event and are subject to change.
-
Yes—age requirements vary by event:
NCAA Outdoor Championships: 18+ by June 1, 2026
All other events: 15+ by April 1, 2026
If you’re under the minimum age or have a unique situation, Exceptions are rare and not guaranteed. Please email volunteers@gotracktownusa.com if you have questions.
-
Yes. Volunteers are provided an event uniform kit and are required to wear the approved uniform during volunteer shifts. Uniforms vary by event.
You’ll also need to pick up your credential and uniform kit before your first shift.
-
Some roles and events require training. If training is required, it will be listed in your profile and/or communicated before your first shift.
-
Log into your profile and select “Edit Profile” to update your details and preferences. Keeping this information current helps us match you with the best roles and shifts.
-
For most updates, your volunteer profile is the best place to check first. If you have any other questions please email volunteers@gotracktownusa.com.
